India’s National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) is focused on expanding domestic capacity, for this they put all its overseas projects on hold including Iran. They signed last year an agreement to explore the possibility an aluminium smelter with Iran’s mining development.

Chairman Tapan Kumar Chand told Reuters that the proposal of Iran’s is attractive as long as gas prices are attractive and $849 million refineries in Damanjodi in the Easters state of Odisha which will help in increasing alumina output by 48% to 3.1 million tons, Is likely to commissioned by 2021.
The Indian government asked NALCO late last year, to re-think its global expansion plans with those cities which are to be self-sufficient in aluminium production including Iran. NALCO had also looked at an associated power plant in the Middle East and up a 500,000-tonnes/year smelter.
The increasing output of 14% to 440,000 tons in 2017/18, is expecting a 20%, which jumps in exports to 120,000 tones of a third largest aluminium producer of India. Now NALCO is strengthening its alumina arm by putting up a 1million tone for the refinery. They have got environment clearance and selection of technology is over.

From bauxite ore we can produce Alumina, Is primary input for making aluminium and a company formed a panel to explore the sales of alumina.
