Kotak Mahindra Bank and Tata Motors DVR have pared their early gains on Monday. These shares were trading higher during the morning trades on the back of their inclusion in the Sensex.
State-owned GAIL (India) Limited was excluded from the index with effect from June 19, 2017. Tata Motors with differential voting rights is the first Differential Voting Right (DVR) to be included in the BSE Sensex.
Tata Motors DVR has been part of the benchmark Nifty index since April 2016. DVRs differ from common equity shares in terms of voting rights and dividend. Consequently, they usually trade at a discount and may offer higher dividends for the surrender of the voting rights.
As of June 18, 2017, the market capitalisation of Kotak Mahindra Bank and Tata Motors stood at Rs 1,87,552 and Rs 1,31,518 crore, respectively.
