In a lawsuit over copyright infringement between leading biscuit brands- ITC and Britannia, Delhi high court rejected Britannia's plea to hold its packaging.

The on-going tiff arose in September 2016, when ITC filed a suit against Britannia for using a deceptively similar label and packaging of Britannia's NutriChoice Digestive Zero biscuits as ITC's Sunfeast Farmlite Digestive All Good Biscuit.

ITC holds 1.8 per cent of share in the market of the biscuits segment of India, while, Britannia holds 66 percent of the market share, becoming the industry leader.

The biscuit leader's market value is likely to get affected by after the Delhi high court's judgment.

Presently, Britannia Industries is trading flat. As of today, the stock is trading at Rs 3079 per share up by Rs 0.4 per share or 0.04%. However, ITC is trading in red at Rs 264 per share down by Rs 0.2 per share or 0.1%.
