As broader markets are struggling to hold on to the early gains, the BSE Metal sectoral index is underperforming the broader markets with major stocks in the sector losing on bourses. The BSE Metal index is trading at 11164.34 levels and is down by 165.91 points or 1.46% on Tuesday.

Coal India and Vedanta are the two heavyweights contributing the most to the losses of the index. Put together these two stocks have contibuted almost 50% to index losses and are dragging the sectoral index down with Vedanta, Coal India, National Aluminium Company, Hindalco and Jindal Steel being the top 5 losers in the index.

Vedanta is down by more than 2.4% , Coal India is down by 2.10%, National Aluminim Company is down by 1.86%, Hindalco is down by 1.36% and Jindal Steel is down by 1.27%. Sail is the only stock which is trading in green and is up by 0.25%.
